Furness Academy

Modern Foreign Languages

Our vision is to provide outstanding lessons in order to produce outstanding linguists who can communicate confidently in the language they are studying and who will hopefully continue to enjoy developing their language skills after they leave the Academy.

The department is well resourced with interactive whiteboards available on both sites and teachers are encouraged to embrace new technologies in their teaching.

Students study French, German or Spanish for two hours per week at Key Stage 3 but have opportunities to experience other languages.  At Key Stage 4, we currently have smaller groups studying French, German and Spanish for two hours per week.

Those students who are studying for a GCSE follow the AQA Specification A syllabus.
