PE

At Furness Academy – all students undertake 2 hours core PE per week. Activities within the curriculum include invasion games, net games, athletics, striking / fielding, outdoor and adventurous activities and gymnastics.

During key stage 3 and 4 all students have the opportunity to gain leadership qualifications and have access to work with the primary feeder schools in order to gain valuable experience of working in key sports leaders roles.

We have a very successful sports leadership and coaching programme. Our dedicated team have a large number of sports volunteers who have given up their time and worked incredibly hard to achieve coaching awards and ‘hours’ assisting local schools, teams and sporting competitions.

The ‘step into sport’ programme has recently seen 2 students from Furness Academy nominated and receive awards at the Barrow Borough award event.

We also collaborate with the Schools Sport Partnership and we have three staff who support this programme.
