Textile Technology

Year 7 & 8 Textiles is delivered through the Technology carousel.

Students are taught to develop their practical skills and to use a sewing machine safely and accurately. Students will use a variety of surface pattern techniques that include tie dye, block printing, stencilling and heat transfer printing.

Products produced are fabric portraits and cushion covers made from fabric the students have designed and printed.

GCSE Textiles is taught through the Product Design GCSE. Students are given the opportunity to design and make any Textile related item of their own choice; this take the form of items such as children’s clothing, toys, fashion bags or wall hangings.
