Climbing, year 8 and 11

As part of the Year 11 BTEC Outdoor Education course on the South Site, students were in charge of organising a climbing event from start to finish. They chose to run the session at YMCA Lakeside and invited staff to nominate Year 8 Students who they felt had demonstrated an excellent attitude to learning and behaviour in lessons and around school. The number of students nominated was over whelming, and over the course of four weeks approx 30 Year 8 students were picked out of a hat and invited to attend on a Wednesday morning.

The Year 11 students planned, managed and instructed the event under the supervision of Mrs Ward and excelled themselves with their mature attitude, motivation, technical knowledge and excellent relationship with the younger students.

A big well done to all Year 8\\\'s who were nominated by staff and to the Year 11 students for their hard work and achievements!

The start to the term has been a positive and busy one.  Students arrived back to both sites looking smarter than ever in their uniforms and have approached their studies with a real sense of determination and diligence.  The prefects on both sites have taken to their duties well, and are to be applauded on their efforts to give their personal best. Being a prefect is an honour and provides the opportunity, amongst other things, to represent all the students in meetings with myself and other Senior Leaders.
