Remote Learning
Remote education provision
The information shared on this page is designed to support parents and students to understand the remote learning provision. What is expected of the academy, what is expected of the students, and how it all works. More in-depth detail has been provided to parents throughout the last few months through letters home and news updates, however, this page should be used as a key reference point.
Students will be able to log into Microsoft Teams, and access their lessons and work resources. They should also check their emails each day for any updates from the pastoral team or their tutor.
We use a combination of approaches to teach students remotely:
- live teaching (online lessons)
- recorded teaching (e.g. Oak National Academy lessons, video/audio recordings made by teachers)
- printed paper packs produced by teachers (e.g. workbooks, worksheets)
- textbooks and reading books students have at home
- commercially available websites supporting the teaching of specific subjects or areas, including video clips or sequences
- project work and/or internet research activities
We expect every student to engage in lessons as they would in the classroom, and similarly our staff will be checking student understanding in the same manner as well. This could take the form of online quizzes, marking/assessment of assignments or work returned by email or other apps, or in-class engagement.
We know that strong parental engagement is important to make this successful, and therefore endeavour to communicate regularly with you around how the remote learning is going. We will be there to offer support on how to access the information remotely around resources, lessons and your child’s attendance, behaviour and engagement.
If you require any support with remote education, please contact the school immediately on the appropriate email for your child’s year group:
Should you encounter any technical issues accessing Microsoft Teams or any other technical issue with your device, please contact: It@student.furnessacademy.co.uk
The person in school with responsibility for remote learning is Mr S Kelly (Deputy Headteacher)
