Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and was allocated to children whose families were eligible for, and claiming, free school meals

The school receives additional funding in the form of Pupil Premium for children entitled to free school meals in the last 6 years, children in care and children of parents in the armed forces. From September 2014, pupils recently adopted from care under the Adoption and Children Act 2002 and children who have left care under a Special Guardianship or Residence Order were also eligible for additional funding. This money is used to narrow the gap between the progress of pupils who are “disadvantaged”.

If you feel that your child is eligible for the Pupil Premium but don’t currently claim for Free School Meals, please click here for the application process.

Furness Academy Pupil Premium Statement

The statement below details our school’s use of pupil premium (and recovery premium for the 2023 to 2024 academic year) funding to help improve the attainment of our disadvantaged students.
It outlines our pupil premium strategy, how we intend to spend the funding in this academic year and the effect that last year’s spending of pupil premium had within our school.
